CANTER is dedicated to finding new careers for Ohio's retiring thoroughbred racehorses by listing horses for sale on its internet site, and by distributing horse wanted listings at the racetrack. CANTER Ohio is entirely comprised of volunteers, and no member of the organization receives a salary or commission. All donated funds are dedicated to the welfare of CANTER-owned horses, and these horses also receive veterinary care through the generosity of Ohio State University's School of Veterinary Medicine and MSU. CANTER Ohio's goal is to find new careers for thoroughbred racehorses so none end up at risk of going to slaughter.
