MERCY PARTNERS

MERCY PARTNERS is a Christian nonprofit organization classified as a 501(c)(3) entity, dedicated to providing humanitarian aid and spiritual support in conflict zones around the world. Established in 2011, the organization operates under the belief that extending dignity and fostering self-sufficiency are crucial in serving communities affected by conflict.

Mission and Purpose

MERCY PARTNERS aims to create service programs that offer immediate care, sustainable aid, and discipleship training. The organization focuses on empowering native teams to care for their communities directly, thereby avoiding dependency on external aid. This approach is designed to bridge cultural and spiritual gaps effectively, emphasizing partnership and equality in all their endeavors[1][2].

Areas of Focus

  • Immediate Care: Providing essential aid such as food, safe water, and healthcare to individuals at the survival level, ensuring they have the basic necessities to live[3].
  • Sustainable Aid: Offering resources that support long-term stability and self-sufficiency for those striving beyond survival[3].
  • Discipleship Training: Educating and empowering local evangelists to lead in distributing aid and providing education within their communities[1][3].

Operational Approach

MERCY PARTNERS employs a "wholistic" approach to aid, addressing spiritual, mental, and physical needs simultaneously. This comprehensive strategy is designed to uplift communities holistically, rather than merely providing temporary relief. The organization also emphasizes the importance of dignity and self-sufficiency, encouraging individuals to remain in their communities and contribute to local development rather than seeking opportunities abroad[2][3].

Geographic Reach

MERCY PARTNERS operates internationally, with significant presence in conflict zones across Africa, including South Sudan, Darfur, Uganda, and Kenya. The organization is also active in various regions within the United States[1].

Partnership and Funding

MERCY PARTNERS collaborates with partners to ensure that resources are utilized effectively in meeting humanitarian needs. The organization receives funding through donations and also provides benefits to support its missionaries and aid projects[1].

Training and Volunteer Opportunities

While MERCY PARTNERS does not provide specific training for volunteers, it does require training for service participants, which includes physical, mental, and spiritual preparation using CHE principles and team-building exercises[1]. The organization welcomes volunteers on a remote or on-site basis and does not require educational prerequisites for service[1].

Notable Programs

  • Feeding Programs: Providing necessary food to displaced and vulnerable populations.
  • Water-Well Initiatives: Ensuring access to safe drinking water through projects like "Project Jacob."
  • Sustainable Aid Initiatives: Such as donating livestock for sustainable food sources[4].

Overall, MERCY PARTNERS is committed to making God's grace evident by bridging cultural and humanitarian gaps in conflicted regions, empowering local communities to achieve self-sufficiency and spiritual growth.

Learn More WHAT OUR PARTNERS SAY As a representative of a NonGovernmental Organization for 18 years overseeing humanitarian aid I am impressed with the impact that Mercy Partners has made among the people we attempt to serve. Organizations have delays in dispersing care however this Christian charity has empowered national teams to care for the people within their own village which provides a direct transmission from the church to the people who need assistance. Simply they have not fostered dependency that is so prevalent in the country. They are an example that many organizations should follow.
