Welcome to the official Facebook page of the Williamsburg Youth Orchestras! http://www.wyomusic.org The mission of the Williamsburg Youth Orchestras is to help talented and motivated young musicians in the region develop their full potential as orchestra performers by providing them with the music education programs and performance opportunities that they need. To meet its mission, the WYO has the following goals:To bring together the finest young musicians from the area to rehearse and perform under the leadership of excellent conductors and section coaches;To further students’ appreciation and understanding of music by rehearsing and performing different styles of classical and contemporary literature;To support, extend, and enhance local school music programs, as well as to provide home school students with an opportunity to participate in an orchestra;To provide experience rehearsing and performing within different types of ensembles;To develop a large and appreciative community audience for WYO concerts.

The Williamsburg Youth Orchestra (WYO) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing orchestral music education and performance opportunities to young musicians in the greater Williamsburg, Virginia region. Established in 1995, WYO seeks to elevate, inspire, and enrich the orchestral music experience for youth, creating a welcoming environment that nurtures musical excellence and community engagement.

WYO’s mission is to help talented and motivated young musicians develop their full potential as orchestra members through comprehensive music education programs and diverse performance opportunities. The organization’s vision is to cultivate a joyful pursuit of musical excellence, enabling students to share their skills and passion for orchestral music with the wider community.
Programs and Ensembles
The Williamsburg Youth Orchestra offers multiple ensembles tailored to various age groups and skill levels, including:
- Two Strings ensembles
- Junior Wind & Brass Ensemble
- Symphony Orchestra
These ensembles serve elementary through high school students, providing weekly rehearsals and performance experiences. The Symphony Orchestra notably represents the only full orchestra experience available to student musicians in the Williamsburg area.
Community and Sponsorship
WYO benefits from broad community support, including sponsorships from local businesses and major contributions from foundations and individual donors. These resources help sustain the organization’s programs and enable it to continue enriching the cultural life of the community.
