The Civic Orchestra of Minneapolis, founded in 1952, aims to bring music to people of all ages and interests. Civic Orchestra of Minneapolis - part of the Twin Cities Community for 70 years. The Civic has continued to support composers and contemporary music by performing numerous commissions and premieres throughout its 70 years. Long noted for its innovative programming, the Orchestra has received eleven awards from the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP). We have a mission of bringing free music to the community while providing amateur and semi-professional musicians with a platform for rehearsing and performing great orchestral music. We have been awarded grants from the Metropolitan Regional Arts Council (MRAC) on several occasions in order to provide educational programs. Our most recent grant was an Operational Support Grant from MRAC, We believe in the power of music to create experiences that are unlike any other. We believe in music as a power for peace, for building relationships and for community. We have a small budget, and we rely on individual donations to help us make our budget. We rent music, print brochures, pay insurance and music association fees. We pay our conductor, and we pay a manager. Each orchestra member pays yearly dues, and we sometimes pay for rehearsal and performance venues. Your dollars help us continue to meet our financial obligations while making our music free to those who desire to hear us. Your dollars make a difference in the lives of many. Give to the Civic Orchestra of Minneapolis today! Thank you for your generosity!
