It’s time to look back on the phenology photos from the last few months! These photo points are located in three strategic places throughout the park to track seasonal changes in water level, leaf color, snowfall, and vegetation. 💧 Yukon Creek shows seasonal water levels very well. You can see when winters grasp is loosening and the surface water starts flowing again. This year that change occurred in early March. ❄️ The Silver Strider location shows snow levels and vegetation changes at more of a micro level. Things actually were pretty steady looking until this most recent snow storm! A lot of snow has melted since the last picture… 😅 ⛰️ The Squirrel Hill location is an excellent spot to observe vast landscape changes such as leaf out and fall color change. Most of the snow is out of the picture and pretty soon we’ll start seeing the maple and aspen buds swell! Thank you to everyone who submitted phenology photos over the last few months! It’s been a slow start to spring…even the animals have taken their time showing up at our Snapshot Wisconsin trail camera location. It’s been crickets over the last few months. Well, not literal crickets… But, we’ve seen PLENTY of white tailed deer, some squirrels, a turkey family, and a mystery critter. It’s mostly a blur, so we’re curious what you think it could be!
