Su Refugio Ministries’ Board of Directors is comprised of eight individuals whose combined experience and expertise are invaluable to the ministry. Today we feature Board Member Jonathan Rourke, who pastors Tri-City Bible Church (TCBC) in Vista, California. Since joining the Board in 2023, Jonathan has been integral to pastoral training initiatives in Paraguay, and the TCBC congregation has embraced the call of James 1:27 through giving, mission trips, and volunteering alongside Su Refugio. Prior to joining the Board, Jonathan had long admired the work God was doing in South America through Su Refugio. As his relationship with founders Scott and Michelle Kvandal grew, it became clear that the Lord was fusing them together in partnership for the gospel. For any ministry, the Board of Directors is called upon to leverage their experiences, energy, and resources, and this is most effective when its members see the fruit of the ministry firsthand. We thank God that the new first grade class at Su Refugio Argentina Christian School is enjoying a smooth start to the school year. The school has been instrumental in Su Refugio's ability to share Christ in the troubled barrios of Rafaela, even among those who are skeptical of Christians. One example is a young boy who started first grade this year. Initially, his mother was unsure about re-enrolling him in Su Refugio's school, because she wasn't convinced by the teachings about God. However, it was clear that her son was thriving in the care of his teachers and the company of his classmates. At home, he shares what he learns about Christ at school, and his mother tells us that she is now learning how to pray. We praise God for every open door to share His love and the gospel with these families. One of our teachers says, "Although I've only been working here for a short time, I've been deeply impressed by the gratitude the children feel toward their school. It's heartwarming to see the happiness they feel about the growth of this institution they call their own.
