Cami Jackson’s parents will never forget the date March 2, 2023- the day their daughter was diagnosed with an inoperable aggressive brain tumor. At 8 years old Cami was a normal kid who loved arts and crafts, zoo animals, dancing, and playing with her brother CJ. She began to have trouble controlling her left hand which led her parents to have her admitted to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta for tests and a biopsy, resulting in the devastating diagnosis of brain cancer. The Jackson family lived over an hour away from Atlanta in Greensboro, Georgia so they were grateful to stay at our House near Egleston while Cami received 6 weeks of radiation therapy at Emory Proton Center nearby. While staying at the House, Cami enjoyed Bingo nights and playing with her friend Amelia. They became best friends while both undergoing treatment and staying at the House together. In July of 2023, Cami underwent brain surgery that successfully removed her cancer. Nearly 2 years later, she is doing exceptionally better! 💙 May is Brain Cancer Awareness Month, making it no better time to highlight the strength of the kids and families in similar situations to the Jackson family. In times that may feel hopeless, our Houses play the role of providing support, stability, and comfort to families in need. (fb)
