Today, we celebrate the life and legacy of Elizabeth Austin, whose passion for inclusion sparked the movement to reimagine the Chelsea Anderson Memorial Play Station @ Marshall Park into a space where everyone can play. Elizabeth’s dream was for her sons and all children—regardless of ability—to have a place where they could connect, explore, and thrive. Her vision and advocacy ignited the effort that led to a fully inclusive playground at Marshall Park, ensuring that joy and play are available to all. When you arrive at the park, you'll see the Elizabeth Austin Welcome Plaza, named in her honor. There, you’ll find three beautiful bronze turtles: a mother reading "Oh, The Places You’ll Go!" to her two sons, representing Elizabeth and her boys. It’s a touching tribute to a woman whose love and determination created lasting change. Her legacy continues to inspire us at Harper’s Playground and beyond. On what would have been her birthday, we honor her memory by recommitting ourselves to creating play spaces where everyone belongs. 💚 Happy Birthday Elizabeth 💚 (fb)
