Shakespeare Downtown, Inc.
The mission of Shakespeare Downtown is to encourage an interest in classical theatre, particularly Shakespeare, by forming a permanent Shakespeare theatre company at Castle Clinton National Monument. By staging these free outdoor performances at Castle Clinton, audience members will be able to experience how the plays were originally done at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre 400 years ago - in the open-air, in the round, on the water.
