Calumet Project is a involved in community organizing for social change. The vision is to ensure the disadvantaged, low-income, minority populations residing near polluting industries are treated equally and fairly. We work to help reduce toxic pollution produced by certain industries in Northwest Indiana. The larger movement for social change envisions the fair, equal treatment of all people, no matter their race, income level, or where they live and the sustainability of the planet.Calumet Project seeks to actively involve workers, community representatives, and other local entities from Lake and Porter Counties, Indiana, in achieving its goal: The improving of Calumet Region communities with regard to the following - A.) Saving and creating jobs of dignity with wages which improve the quality of life in our communities. B.) Reinvestment. C.) Economic Revitalization. D.) Other issues relating to improving the welfare of the Calumet Region.Calumet Project will cooperate with existing organizations in the community to help resolve issues that are directly related to their mutual self-interest.
