We are still in great need of volunteers to be Bus Ambassadors this summer! In just a couple weeks, we will begin welcoming campers to Sherwood Forest and having volunteers assist our staff at the bus stops is vital to ensuring they have a smooth start to summer. We are hoping to recruit 2 additional volunteers at our Holman Middle School stop on June 10th and we need 5 volunteers at the Holman stop on June 19th. The estimated time commitment for volunteering is 7:15am to approximately 8am on both dates. Can't make either of those dates? Last weekend, Sherwood Forest welcomed summer staff to camp and began staff training! This lead up to summer is crucial in laying the groundwork for a strong foundation to our programs. Through in-depth education on best practices at camp, exercises in teamwork, safety training, and more, our summer staff are trained to meet the needs of our campers and ensure they have a positive experience at Sherwood Forest. Training for our summer staff will continue through mid-June, just in time for our 1st and 2nd grade campers to arrive on June 10. Throughout the 2 weeks of training, our seasonal staff participate in a variety of intensive, but fun, training, which includes role-playing games, interactive sessions, and group discussions. They learn to work with youth from all backgrounds, engage in active supervision, and support Sherwood Forest campers effectively. The training also covers helping our young people adjust to camp life, make new friends, and be part of a shared community space.
