Established in 1992 as the "Giving Arm" of the Disabled American Veterans of Minnesota, the Foundation's primary mission is to provide financial resources for high-quality programs, services, and projects that benefit veterans.

Initially formed as a 501(c)19 organization, the Foundation was redesignated as a 501(c)(3) in 2019, allowing for tax-deductible contributions under Title 26 U.S.C., Section 501(c)(3). Since its inception, the Foundation has contributed over $4.2 million to various veteran support programs and projects throughout Minnesota. In 2022, it provided over $386,000 in grants, with nearly half going to partnerships with other Minnesota veteran organizations.
