The entirePreserve is eleven miles long onethird of a mile wide and is over 3500 acres of intermingled wetland and upland. The appearance of the Slough changes with the seasons from dry OctoberMay to wet JuneSeptember. The Slough catches and slowly filters rainwater on its way towards Estero Bay.
