Olivia has always been fascinated by health care. As a child, she loved watching medical TV shows. "When they were on, I was glued to the TV—it sparked a genuine interest in the human body and how we heal," said Olivia. "Beyond that, I also had a strong desire to care for people. I eventually decided I wanted to be a nurse because nurses often get to form a deeper connection with their patients." While the opportunity to connect with her patients is incredibly rewarding, Olivia says the teamwork and dedication of her co-workers is just as inspiring. Working as an ultrasound technologist gives Lambert the opportunity to meet a lot of people. Each time he comes into contact with a new patient, he strives to make a positive impact. "Many people do not like coming into the hospital for most things. I enjoy the opportunity to be a positive aspect of a patient's day when there may not be much to be positive about," said Lambert. "As health care workers, we all have a chance to help a patient in one way or another—ask them how their day is going, or doing something as simple as offering them a warm blanket." The most rewarding part of his job? Seeing his patients out in the world and thriving. "Sometimes I'll get stopped by an OB patient at the grocery store, and they tell me about their little one," said Lambert. "There's no more rewarding feeling than the feeling of leaving such a positive impact on their lives that they recognized me outside of the hospital." #HealthCareWeek (fb)
