The Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA) announced the identification of former MIA, SSgt John H. Danneker, missing in action since June 20th, 1944. Danneker, from Williamsport, PA, was a left waist gunner on a B-24 Liberator that crashed into the Baltic Sea on June 20th, 1944. In 2021, Project Recover partner @udelaware along with the Royal Danish Navy, conducted an underwater survey that resulted in a recommendation to execute a recovery operation, ultimately leading to Danneker's repatriation.
