As a dad to a teenager on the spectrum, Steve Camara often thinks about the future — education, employment, and building a sense of community. That’s what led him to deepen his involvement with ASCV, ultimately joining the Board this year to help other families find the same support. “Like any parent, I think about what the future holds for my child,” Steve shares. “For families in the autism community, that question can feel even bigger. ASCV helps navigate what’s next.” Steve first connected with ASCV through KPMG's neurodiversity initiatives, where he’s a Federal Technology Assurance Partner. That connection quickly grew into something deeper. He helped bring 💬 Autism 101 training to KPMG’s Richmond office and played a key role in shaping our 🦆 RVA Duck Race Corporate Village — encouraging other companies to get involved and take meaningful action. “ASCV stood out because they don’t just seek funding. They’re building relationships and shared goals,” Steve says. “That’s something I wanted to be part of.” Now serving on ASCV’s Board and Development Committee, Steve is focused on helping more companies understand the role they can play in creating inclusive opportunities for autistic individuals. “ASCV is a bridge — to community, to workplace inclusion, and to engaging employees who are personally touched by autism. If a company wants to make a meaningful difference, this is the place to do it.” 💼 Help us grow the Corporate Village! 👋 Give Steve a warm welcome in the comments — and tag a company that should be part of the Corporate Village. Steve would love to give them a call! (fb)

While having only joined the ASCV as a volunteer earlier this year, Sidhant – or Sid, for short – has jumped head first into making a positive impact in our autism community! ❤ An active volunteer at FitAbility Club, Respite Night, Adult Social Group and recently Spring Break Camp, Sid's calming, empathetic presence has impressed us since day one. Sid views his volunteer work with ASCV as “a wonderful, meaningful way to help others while gaining more perspectives about the lived experiences of those with special needs.” Given his own love of sports and working out, he has especially enjoyed leading Fitability Club participants in developing new exercise routines and lifelong healthy habits. 🏋️♀️ “No impact is too large nor too small," Sid reflects. "If all you can manage for now is just one hour of volunteering per month, that is one extra person-hour of support you can offer your community that they would not have received otherwise. Be proud of the small things you have done for others, ASCV or otherwise, as the world is a better place for the impact you make, regardless of size. Use that to carry you forward as you do good for yourself and your community, one small or large gesture at a time.” Thank you to Sid, and all our volunteers, for making a difference! 👋 Looking to lend a hand? We are currently welcoming volunteers for our upcoming Summer Camp sessions through June and July. Visit https://ascv.org/getinvolved/volunteer to get started! (fb)
