Parent Booster USA was founded in 2004 by Sandra Pfau Englund, a nonprofit and tax law attorney. Englund's experience as a working mom volunteering for her son's school PTO highlighted the complexities of managing a group's finances and tax-exempt status, prompting her to establish the organization to help other parents and booster groups navigate these challenges.

Mission

The organization's primary mission is to provide peace of mind for parent volunteers, school administrators, and school district leadership by offering guidance on tax-exempt status, incorporation, state registrations, fundraising, and sales tax issues. Parent Booster USA enables its member organizations to operate as 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organizations under its group ruling, eliminating the need for individual organizations to file Form 1023 or pay the associated IRS filing fees.

Parent Booster USA supports over 6,000 member organizations across 50 states and the District of Columbia, maintaining a high annual renewal rate of 95%.
