When babyproofing your home, it’s easy (and common!) to make a few mistakes. We’ve partnered with the experts @safety_1st to share 4 babyproofing mistakes and how you can avoid them. 1. Use gates at both the top and bottom of all stairs. Be sure to use a hardware-mounted gate at the top of the stairs, as they are designed to withstand extra pressure and help prevent falls. 2. Wait 24 hours for the adhesive to set when using adhesive latches or locks. If you begin using them sooner, the adhesive may not be fully set and the lock may pop off. 3. To prevent furniture tipping, always make sure to anchor your furniture to a stud. Drywall alone won’t hold the furniture securely, especially if a child pulls or climbs on it. 4. Choose gear you can use every day. After all, babyproofing gear doesn’t work if it’s not used or frequently removed because it’s inconvenient.
