City Lights provides arts education and writing programs to Greater Boston's underserved youth and builds bridges between local schools and universities. Our programs are designed to develop 21st century skills such as critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity; to enrich language arts learning and promote literacy; and to foster mentoring relationships that inspire young students on the path to higher education.

City Lights uses the arts and humanities as a platform for amplifying young voices promoting civic engagement and increasing college access opportunities through schooluniversity collaborations. Since 2014 we have delivered free arts education programming to more than 7000 students ages 1018 in Greater Boston. PROGRAMS City Lights Writing Collaborative Our writing programs connect high school students with undergraduate near peers professional writers and local artists exploring themes of identity and community through various narrative forms. Boston Shakespeare Project Our afterschool programs offer middle school students exciting encounters with Shakespeare in text and performance.
