And so it be proclaimed: May is officially Safety Around Water Month in Virginia Beach! Mayor Bobby Dyer joined us at the Mt. Trashmore Family YMCA to share a proclamation recognizing May as National Water Safety Month, shining a light on the importance of water safety and drowning prevention, especially for children. With generous support from our friends at POOLCORP, who are funding water safety programs and lifeguard training across our region, we’re working to ensure every child has the chance to learn to swim, gain confidence, and stay safe around water. Virginia Beach EMS was also on site with Marine Rescue, highlighting the vital partnership that helps keep our community safe. Here’s to safer summers, stronger swimmers, and a community that cares.
