It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Sarah Namuli. Sarah Namuli was a beloved friend, sister, leader, singer, and champion of children’s education. We first met Sarah Namuli when she was in p7 in 2008. It was largely due to her leadership and the way she brought people together that Segawa’s school could grow to helping hundreds of other children in Uganda. Sponsored by Linda Bohrer and the Shearman family through high school and college, Sarah became a talented seamstress and an intelligent teacher at the same school that raised her. She was a connector, who brought people together and celebrated life with her sense of humor, booming laugh, frequent hugs, and incredible singing voice. She made every day brighter and more joyful for everyone who was lucky enough to know her. She will be deeply missed by Segawa, the students and fellow graduates of Namayumba, the children in Nansana, and all of us in the U.S. If you feel inclined to give in her honor, any donations will go towards her outstanding hospital bills and her funeral (at www.heartforpeople.org or Venmo: @HeartForPeople). Any remaining balance will be given in her memory to further support Segawa’s school.
