Over a century ago, the U.S. Food Administration promoted initiatives like "Meatless Mondays" and gluten-free breads. During World War I, Floridians, along with all American civilians, were encouraged to conserve essential items to support the war effort. Explore this chapter of history in our new exhibition at the Wray Home Museum: The Frugal Kitchen: 1917–1947. Discover wartime cookbooks and recipes from World War I, the Great Depression, and World War II—spanning much of the time Floyd L. and Jane Wray were married (1910–1959). See how earlier generations adapted to food shortages and supply chain disruptions with creativity and resilience. #ThrowbackThursday #FlamingoGardens #WrayHomeMuseum 📸 Poster from 1917, courtesy of the Library of Congress.
