Golfing History
The golf course at Big Spring Country Club hosted the PGA Championship in 1952, which was won by Jim Turnesa. This historic event marked Big Spring as the first golf club in Kentucky to host a major tournament. The course has undergone several renovations by renowned architects, including Tom Winton, William Diddel, Arthur Hills, Larry Packard, and Rees Jones, who completed a comprehensive redesign in 2004.
Community Involvement
Historically, Big Spring Country Club played a role in supporting the WWII war effort by offering special memberships for military personnel. The club continues to emphasize community engagement and enduring friendships among its members.
Affiliations and Growth
In 2014, Big Spring Country Club merged with Harmony Landing Country Club, creating a single entity with two campuses. This expansion enhanced the club's offerings and position in the region.

Despite not being listed among the top 100 golf courses, Big Spring Country Club is highly regarded for its challenging yet enjoyable golfing experience. The club's commitment to inclusivity and community has made it a beloved institution in the Louisville area.
