MHA seeks to educate, prevent, and treat mental health issues in south central Kansas, and remove the stigma that keeps so many from seeking the help they need. MHA offers over 30 mental health programs for children, families, seniors, and veterans each year. The Mission of the Mental Health Association is to empower and assist youth, families and adults in our community to achieve optimal mental health and wellness through education, advocacy, and service.

We serve all ages and throughout the lifespan to ensure that everyone gets the full benefit of our scope of services. MHA has over 30 programs to provide the wraparound services including prevention education housing daily life support and so much more.

This month a number of local businesses are showing their support for suicide prevention by placing flags like this around their property. Suicide prevention is a communal effort and we need all hands on deck to ensure everyone is safe in times of need. Thank you McKay Dentistry in Andover for joining the cause.

This week the House Labor, Health and Human Services Appropriations Subcommittee advanced a bill that proposes to slash AmeriCorps funding by more than 50 percent — eliminating tens of thousands of service positions and stripping communities of critical support in education, disaster response, public health, and more. Wichita and the surrounding areas benefit from AmeriCorps funding. These volunteers fill a vital role in our community, give practical skills and leadership development to our young people, and meet needs that would otherwise go unmet.
