To restore, preserve, protect the historic cottage, enhance the wilderness aspects of its 90+ acres, provide visitation, interpretation, education & facilities for, the historic "Pine Knot" site (VA and Federal historic landmark) and family retreat of President Theodore Roosevelt and his wife Edith during his presidency. Pine Knot was a place for "rest and repairs" where President Roosevelt could pursue his love of nature, wilderness and wildlife while enjoying private family time. The organization is dedicated to the preservation and education of the history and ideals of President Theodore Roosevelt, his time at Pine Knot, his achievements and principles and particularly his incredible conservation legacy.
