The High Desert Ranger Station has been on the move... again! Originally built by the U.S. Forest Service in 1933, the one-room building has relocated multiple times in its history. It fell into disrepair in the 1970s and 1980s and remained unused for decades. Finally, in 2008, it was moved 550 miles to the Museum where it was restored and repurposed into a forest history interpretation landmark. A few months ago, it took a much shorter trip to its new location on the Fire in the Forest Trail. The Museum is excited to welcome even more visitors to the station, where they will learn about the ecological role of fire in the forest and the history of the Forest Service’s land-management practices. 🌲 The High Desert Ranger Station will be open weekends starting Saturday, May 24. Time to see owls, eagles, falcons, hawks and more soaring overhead while the sun shines and the crowds sit in awe. 🦅🦉 The High Desert Museum's popular summer program, Raptors of the Desert Sky, returns on Saturday, May 24! The program continues daily through Labor Day weekend, weather permitting. Tickets are available on the day of at Admissions on a first come, first served basis. The Museum recommends visitors arrive at 9:00 am to secure tickets. We'll see you this summer at Raptors of the Desert Sky!
