From a refugee camp in Thailand to a full ride at Stanford, Augustin Khey’s journey shows what’s possible when students have access to opportunity. School Choice was the first step. Upon entering into the Milwaukee Parental Choice Program, Augustin’s family was able to choose a school that aligned with their values and supported Augustin’s growth. Their chosen school, Cristo Rey Jesuit High School, allowed him to explore computer science and write about world conflicts. Cristo Rey Jesuit’s unique programming gives low-income students a chance to work with local Milwaukee businesses every week of their high school career while also preparing for college. Augustin worked with Rockwell Automation and Northwestern Mutual, learning essential working skills that pushed him towards his new life in college at Stanford. School Choice opened the door for Augustin to run through it.
