The SALT Block is home to Catawba Science Center, Hickory Museum of Art, Western Piedmont Symphony, Patrick Beaver Library and Hickory Choral Society. We strive to provide and maintain a quality cultural destination and self-sustaining cultural hub. The mission of the SALT Block Foundation is to provide its resident organizations -- Catawba Science Center, Hickory Museum of Art, Hickory Choral Society, United Arts Council, and the Western Piedmont Symphony -- with low cost physical facilities. Toward that end the Foundation pays the lion's share of the core residency costs -- utilities, cleaning, security, bldg. management, grounds maintenance, and capital replacement for these organizations, allowing them to use their resources to provide programs, exhibitions, and experiences that enrich our community.
