The AMERICAN CELLO INSTITUTE'S (ACI) purpose is to promote string performance and pedagogical ideals. In addition to scholarly pursuits ACI operates within a larger, more universal perspective by participating in the responsibility of creating a better world through its annual project, the International Chamber Orchestra of Puerto Rico (ICOPR). ICOPR’s mission is to interculturally promote peace, unity, and brotherhood amongst nations through music, to make music at the highest artistic level and to culturally enrich underserved communities throughout Puerto Rico and the world. ICOPR objectives are to incorporate young artists to nurture their formation and to internationally promote Puerto Rico and its rich culture to the world through the highest level of artistry.

HOME ABOUT Board Staff ICOPR Support Us. MISSION The AMERICAN CELLO INSTITUTES ACI purpose is to promote string performance and pedagogical ideals focused on but not limited to the cello and cellist and to preserve archive and research sheet music instruments recordings and video. ACI furthers the cause of music making and scholarship in the areas of performance and pedagogy through the creation of new editions remastered audio and visual recordings and organized seminars and festivals. In addition to scholarly pursuits ACI operates within a larger more universal perspective through its major project the International Chamber Orchestra of Puerto Rico.
