Blackshear Bridge operated from 2013 to 2019 in the historically black and Hispanic community of Blackshear Prospect Hill. We provided free sustainability education, outdoors classroom maintenance, habitat plantings, provision of agricultural starts and amendments, tools, and infrastructure improvements including two educational murals and two rain gardens at Blackshear Elementary School and Huston-Tillotson University. Recently we received a message from Meta — see the message below — saying we had complaints about our FB page and that this site will be removed. If that were to happen, our history would be erased from FB and the public view. Though it will be held strong in our memories and hearts, the images and stories will be disappeared. What a terrible thing. A reader alerted us that it was likely a pfishing scam with malware. Hopefully no one clicked on that link. I understand it appeared on other pages. It does bring to our attention however that our history is vulnerable and that we would like to archive it somehow and will reach out to ask the Austin History Center to assist. Thanks! (fb)
