Big news! We’ve got a new Executive Director! We’re thrilled to welcome Tanesha Powell to ART 180 as of today. With 27 years of service in the heart of Richmond, ART 180 remains a community-centered arts space, gallery, and creative collective. We’re proud to continue offering workshops, exhibitions, residencies, and art experiences for young people, their families, and working artists across the city. Tanesha brings years of nonprofit leadership and a deep love for art and community. In her words: "I am deeply honored to join ART 180 in its next chapter, and I’m excited to collaborate with our community to empower young voices and nurture the creative spirit of Richmond." As we navigate this transition, we will continue to build on our strong partnerships with professional artists, schools, and local organizations to inspire and uplift the next generation of creators. Let’s keep creating and growing together! (fb)

It’s hard to wrap words around a presence like Marlene’s, because she was never just a staff member, or a role. She's a force. A constant. A champion for the spirit of this place and originator of the concept. Today is Marlene’s last day at ART 180. After 27 years of showing up, holding down the fort, and doing the work that only she could, she’s moving on. And we’re feeling it so very deeply. Marlene held so much here: young people’s trust, the studio’s energy, the ineffable magic of making a space feel like a home to so many. She held history. She held people. And we’re grateful. We’re also hopeful for what comes next; for her, and for us in the wake of her care. We’re excited for what’s to come, and can’t wait for y’all to be part of it. But for today, drop your love for Marlene in the comments. All the flowers, thanks, and stories of her impact. (fb)
