The mission of the FDNY Phoenix Society is to be the cultural bridge between the FDNY, its employees THROUGH ITS PROGRAMS, THE ORGANIZATION ASSISTS THE GOLD STAR MEMBERS (FAMILY MEMBERS OF FALLEN SERVICE MEMBERS) WITH FUNDS DONATED BY DIRECT PUBLIC SUPPORT AND SALES OF INVENTORY THAT SUPPORTS THE ORGANIZATION'S CHARITABLE PURPOSE. ONCE THE FAMILY OF THE FALLEN SERVICE MEMBER IS IDENTIFIED BY US DEPARTMENT OF VETERAN AFFAIRS, THE ORGANIZATION OFFERS SERVICES SUCH AS JOB TRAINING, TUTORS, HOME LOAN BENEFIT, FINANCIAL ADVICE, TRAVEL TO BURIAL SITE AND LEGAL AND FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO GOLD STAR MEMBERS. 80% OF THE ORGANIZATION'S PROGRAM EXPENSES WILL BE EXPENDED IN THIS AREA.THE PHOENIX SOCIETY INC. ALSO PROVIDES SCHOLARSHIPS TO CHILDREN OF ARMED SERVICE MEMBERS WHO WERE KILLED IN LINE OF DUTY, LIVING BOTH DOMESTICALLY AND ABROAD AND ORGANIZES ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN THAT ALLOW THEM TO BOND WITH OTHERS. 20% OF THE ORGANIZATION'S PROGRAM EXPENSES WILL BE EXPENDED IN THIS AREA.
