Happy Memorial Day! Our offices are closed today. Please do not leave any donations outside of our building. (fb)

May is Asian American Pacific Islander Heritage Month, and we wanted to spotlight "Home Court", a film that tells the story of Ashley Chea, a Cambodian-American basketball prodigy from Southern California, who's parents came to the United States as refugees. This film features Ashley's journey as she overcomes injury as well as racial and class differences between her home and private school worlds, in peer groups, and against rival schools, Ashley strives to become her own person and leave a legacy behind. Ashley's story represents the generational impacts refugees bring to our country, and why it is important for us to continue a legacy of welcome here in the United States. Last fall we partnered with Heartland Film in their festival screening of Home Court, and it is now available to stream for free through PBS! https://www.pbs.org/independentlens/documentaries/home-court/ (fb)

Look forward to the life ahead. Communities thrive on compassion. Exodus has a long history of welcoming refugees and asylees from many countries cultures languages faiths and political opinions. We began in 1981 with the mission to serve the legal needs of immigrants and Cuban refugees who had arrived as part of the Mariel boatlift in 1980.
