The Iberian (or Spanish) Ribbed Newt is found on the Iberian Peninsula and in Morocco. These little guys usually only reach between 6-10 inches long measured nose to tail tip. But their self-defense method will make you cringe. (fb)

Our female Western Pond Turtle is back EXACTLY where she was headed when she was hit by a car. She has had her prescribed time out of the water healing from a shell fracture that we were able to repair with marine epoxy. There was no internal damage or breach of the coelum. She was released Monday afternoon. Thanks to the reporting party we had the GPS location of where the turtle was found and the direction she had been heading when injured. Remember all turtles/tortoises have their own internal GPS so being able to put her back in the exact spot she was heading to is HUGE! As you can see from the video, she definitely approved.
