Habitat for Humanity Freeborn/Mower
Habitat for Humanity Freeborn/Mower was founded in 1990. It grew out of a need for simple decent housing for low income people in the two county area of Freeborn & Mower in Southeastern Minnesota. The houses are built in partnership with the families that meet the Habitat criteria. The families have to put in a certain number of hours building their home, working with volunteers from all walks of life. The homes built are funded by donations and grants. Then they purchase the home for no interest and no profit to Habitat for Humanity, with a 20 to 30 year mortgage from Habitat.
