From the beginning, there was a vision that Kansas City residents, regardless of the limitations of mental illness, developmental disabilities and alcohol and other drug abuse, should be free to live their lives and pursue their dreams in the housing of their choice that is safe, decent and affordable.Community Housing Network's basic mission is to create safe, affordable, decent and desirable housing opportunities for people with special needs placing special emphasis on the mentally ill. Traditionally, the mentally ill have been housed in large institutions with little opportunity for individual input or privacy. Those outside of institutions have generally lacked the resources or other abilities to secure decent, safe yet affordable housing. It is CHN's goal to bridge that gap.CHN is charged with seeking housing opportunities that will allow for those with special needs to move towards independent living in an environment that meets the generally accepted standards of the community.
