The Crystal Beach Youth Center was founded in 1923 by Faith Mission(CURRENTLY KNOWN AS PINELLAS COMMUNITY FOUNDATION) and was a home for disadvantaged children. The former Blue Heron Hotel became known to as many as 87 needy children at a time during the 1930's and 40's. On April 17, 2001, the Crystal Beach Youth Center separated from the Church and became a free-standing, non-profit charity with 501 3(c) status. It continues to offer educational and recreational activities to the youth and families of Crystal Beach and Palm Harbor, regardless of ability to pay. The CBYC is run by an all-volunteer Board of Directors and is dependent on donations, grant funding(PCF) and adult/teen volunteers to continue its commitment to the community. Currently the Youth Center name has changed to Crysta
