Our mission statement is: “Shining the Light" on others on their journey to wellness as we work towards an end to homelessness. We are finding that health and homelessness are deeply interwoven issues in Sacramento and will maintain focus on the HIV/AIDS community as our priority population. Chronic illness and/or disabling conditions, including HIV/AIDS, are also more prevalent in the homeless population. In general people living with HIV/AIDS are at a higher risk of homelessness than the general population. The impact of HIV/AIDS on a person’s immune system makes homelessness a serious health risk. One study shows that homeless people with HIV who sleep in a shelter are twice as likely to have tuberculosis as the general shelter population! For homeless people living with HIV/AIDS, housing is healthcare! It's frustrating that there are people who still don't think housing is a healing tool.

What I appreciate most about Eduo is its neutrality and inclusivity. It doesn't push any agenda — just provides tools for people to explore and support what matters to them.
