Itn Greater San Diego
The overall mission of ITN Greater San Diego is to enable and enhance continued independent living for seniors and the visually impaired by providing dignified, individualized transportation with trained volunteer drivers. (""ITN"" stands for ""Independent Transportation Network"".) Our goal is to be the alternative to an older adult's own automobile when that person can no longer safely drive or when a driver's license is suspended or when concerned family members convince their loved ones to give up their car keys. Specifically, our mission is to allow the freedom of mobility for seniors and the visually impaired to satisfy obligations, such as medical appointments, grocery shopping and volunteering. And our mission includes opportunities for enjoyment, such as visits with family and friends, going to a play or a movie - in short, to enjoy the same choices one has in owning and driving one's own car. Age or visual impairment should not be a barrier to mobility nor should it force institutionalization.
