Another BIG Day in the nest...or should I say out of the nest? E2 fledged this morning at 7:59 am. Both came back in the nest this afternoon which was such a relief. Fledglings remain in the general area of the nest and are fed by the parents for up to six weeks. Where do they go after the leave the area? They go north... as far as the Great Lakes, Hudson Bay or St. Lawrence seaway regions. After early fall, they return to the South, often to the vicinity of the nest where they fledged. (fb)

About Protected Properties Raptor Cams Nests Get Involved Merchandise More OUR MISSION To preserve and protect critical natural habitat and significant historical parcels of land on Hilton Head Island for the enjoyment of future generations. Each year valuable open space is lost to development especially on the Sea Islands like Hilton Head Island South Carolina. To address this concerned citizens founded the Hilton Head Island Land Trust in 1987. The Land Trust acquires land through donations purchases bequests endowments or most commonly conservation easements.
