Today, we honor our fallen heroes who gave their lives for us. Civil War Horse was a generous gift by Paul Mellon to honor the horses and mules who died during the Civil War. There was a conscious attempt for the memorial not to be specifically identified as Union or Confederate, but a broad representation of both sides. It is a constant reminder of those who gave everything for freedom.
