Pride at Work

Pride at Work (P@W) is an American lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ+) group of labor union activists affiliated with the AFL-CIO. Founded in 1994, it is headquartered in Washington, D.C.

Overview

Pride at Work is a nonprofit organization officially recognized as a constituency group of the AFL-CIO. It coordinates and supports more than 20 chapters across the United States. The organization focuses on building mutual support between the organized labor movement and the LGBTQ community to further social and economic justice.

Mission and Activities

Pride at Work aims to build tolerance and support for LGBTQ+ members in the workplace and in labor unions. It educates LGBTQ+ individuals about their rights as workers, the principles of trade union solidarity, and encourages LGBTQ+ workers to organize and become active participants in the trade union movement. As of recent information, Pride at Work is co-led by presidents Brittany Anderson of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAMAW) and Brittani Murray of the United Steelworkers (USW).
