Options for Literacy
Providing literary resources to underserved Chicago Southland/South Suburban Chicago and Chicago South Side communities. Options for Literacy was founded to address low academic performance and literacy rates amongst BIPOC students of underserved Chicago Southland/South Suburban Chicago and Chicago communities. We believe literature of cultural and racial representation has a stronger positive effect on childhood literacy as well as the love for reading within the Black/POC community. Through our Grow Your Library program, schools, preschools, hospitals, and other childcare organizations are invited to receive free diverse books for their students. What makes us unique is that we work with school directors and officials to provide books for their needs; we strive to make supplemental activities and reading events possible by supplying the books they need to make it happen.
