The theme at state parks this year is "State Symbols" Did you know you can find many of our state symbols in NC state parks?! 🌟 Keep an eye out for the state reptile this weekend. (no touching please) Eastern Box Turtles are omnivores and can tuck completely into their shell for protection. Their shell colors range from brown, yellow to orange and each turtle has a unique pattern. They have permanent home ranges, so please leave them in their habitat. 🐢 @ncstateparks (fb)

Meet the FSP Board of Directors: Welcome Jessica Sheffield to the FSP board! Jessica has lived in the Triangle since 2000, working as an Executive Director for Eno River Association and Schoolhouse of Wonder, and as a program coordinator at Duke University. Currently, Jessica is the Director of Advancement at Schoolhouse of Wonder and she works part-time as a Fora travel advisor. With degrees in Environmental Studies and Parks and Resource Management, and board of director experience at Friends of West Point Park in Durham, Jessica brings a great mix of nonprofit management and naturalist acumen to the Friends of State Parks board. @schoolhouseofwonder @enoriver (fb)
