Saline Animal League
The Saline Animal League is a U.S. nonprofit organization, founded in 1997, and located in Marshall, Missouri. It is dedicated to improving animal welfare and promoting responsible pet ownership in the community.
Mission
The organization's primary mission is to reduce the number of homeless, mistreated, and euthanized animals by promoting adoption and providing care for stray or abandoned pets. They achieve this through education, adoption services, and support for spaying and neutering.
Activities
- Animal Rescue and Adoption: The Saline Animal League operates a no-kill shelter, commonly referred to as the Red House Rescue, where they focus on finding suitable homes for adoptable animals. This requires ongoing support from volunteers and the local community to maintain operations.
- Education and Outreach: The organization educates the public about humane animal treatment, encourages responsible pet ownership, and supports initiatives that reduce animal overpopulation.
- Spay/Neuter Services: They provide funds to pet owners to aid in the spaying and neutering of cats and dogs, a crucial step in reducing unwanted litters and preventing overpopulation.
Partnerships
The Saline Animal League partners with organizations like Best Friends Animal Society, a national network working towards reducing euthanasia rates in shelters across the U.S. This partnership enhances their ability to provide resources and support for animal welfare initiatives.
Financial Overview
As a nonprofit, the Saline Animal League relies heavily on donations and volunteer contributions. While their financial reports show a reliance on contributions for revenue, the organization has maintained zero liabilities in recent years.
Governance
The leadership at Saline Animal League includes dedicated volunteers who manage the day-to-day operations of the Red House Rescue. Key roles are filled by individuals such as Cheyenne Friesz and Macy Belcher, who oversee the daily needs of the animals and the facility.
Impact and Community Engagement
The organization's impact is felt throughout the Marshall community, where they work closely with local residents to ensure that animals receive proper care and are adopted into suitable homes. Their commitment to animal welfare has been ongoing for nearly thirty years, demonstrating a sustained effort in improving animal lives in the region.

‼️PLEASE SHARE‼️ We are sad to report that a stray cat that we received this week had to be euthanized due to Bobcat Fever. Before this we did not have much knowledge on this disease, but now that we do, we want to make sure everyone in our community is aware of the DANGERS!! This is a Tick-Borne Disease caused by a parasite and transmitted through the bite of an infected tick. While Bobcat Fever is not contagious to humans or dogs, both inside and outside cats are susceptible. The best way to prevent this is to ensure that your cats are on flea and tick preventative, it’s that simple! You can speak with your vet about which flea/tick option is best for you and your feline friends. Even if your cat is indoor only does not mean you can’t bring home an infected tick on your clothes and it find its way onto your cat. Prevention is best as this fast acting disease has a 60% survival rate if caught early with medical intervention and if left untreated it is 100% FATAL!! This kitty was found over by Fitzgibbon Hospital in the housing development area. It is important that if you live in this area and have cats that you act IMMEDIATELY to get them on a preventative! We are still dealing with this sudden loss and want to ensure that no other cats have to go through the suffering that he did. He was the sweetest boy and didn’t deserve to die from something that was so preventable. While we are glad we could help him with his passing and love on him in his few days with us, we don’t want to see this happen to any other cats! We are not veterinarians so please reach out to yours with any questions you may have about Bobcat Fever.💔 (fb)
We are closed today (05/31) to take one of our kitties to the emergency vet. We apologize for the inconvenience. (fb)
