GapBuster, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization established to address the educational performance gap faced by students, particularly those from socio-economically disadvantaged backgrounds. Founded with a vision to empower the community through education, GapBuster focuses on supplemental education, enrichment programs, and leadership development training to foster well-rounded individuals who can excel in academic, social, and professional environments.

Mission and Programs

GapBuster's mission is encapsulated in its motto: "Educate, Elevate, and Empower." The organization aims to inspire youth to become future leaders by harnessing the power of education. To achieve this, GapBuster offers a range of programs including after-school leadership development, college preparation, and drop-out prevention initiatives. It also operates a junior chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE) across multiple schools in Montgomery and Prince George's Counties, Maryland.

GapBuster provides hands-on STEM education projects, engaging students in national competitions such as VEX robotics and TEN80 Education. Additionally, it offers family events, adult education programs like IT certifications and GED preparation, and classes for English language learners.

International Efforts

In addition to its domestic programs, GapBuster has expanded its efforts internationally. GapBuster Ghana, established in 2017, focuses on closing the academic and opportunity gap by supporting educational enrichment programs and infrastructure development. This includes the operation of a learning center and partnerships with local educational institutions in Ghana.

GapBuster has received notable recognition for its contributions. Recently, it was selected for the Salesforce Volunteering Impact Rewards, which included a donation of $20,000. It is also an approved Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) occupational program provider.
