It's World Bee Day! According to the United Nations, these are a few ways we can help bees and other pollinators: • Planting a diverse set of native plants, which flower at different times of the year • Buying raw honey from local farmers • Buying products from sustainable agricultural practices • Avoiding pesticides, fungicides or herbicides in our gardens • Making a bee water fountain by leaving a water bowl outside • Raising awareness Here at CRYP, we're doing our part with our pesticide-free Winyan Toka Win garden and orchard (with plenty of flowering perennials!), and our new Honeycomb Woman Hives. Today, we made Lilac jelly. Lilac jelly is so unique - you only have a tiny window to make it, and it's like eating the aroma of lilac. It gave me a much-needed moment of peace. You can find it in our gift shop. On a personal note, Julie’s mom iyonne planted these lilac trees in our Winyan Toka Win garden about 40 years ago. We remembered her while we worked. (fb)
