Barrio Blanco is a poor squatter village in Cabarete, Dominican Republic. POSI helps the residents improve their lives and hopes for a better future. OUR MISSION IS AIMED AT BETTERING THE LIVES OF THE PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN BARRIO BLANCO, AN IMPOVERISHED SQUATTERS' CAMP IN CABARETE, DOMINICAN REPUBLIC. WE BEGAN WITH TEARING DOWN SCRAP SHACKS TO REBUILD SOLID AND BASIC HOUSES WITH THE LABOR PROVIDED BY BENEFICIARIES AND MATERIALS AND BUILDING CONTROL BY PROVIDING OPPORTUNITY ON-SITE. THEN WE BUILT A SCHOOL, AND A MEDICAL CLINIC. WE OVERSEE THESE ONGOING OPERATIONS. IN 2014 WE BEGAN PROVIDING SCHOLARSHIPS TO EDUCATE THE CHILDREN AND YOUNG ADULTS UP FROM POVERTY. WE TIE MOST DONATIONS DIRECTLY BETWEEN DONORS AND SPECIFIC BENEFITS SO THAT WE CAN SHOW DONORS THE DIRECTNESS OF BENEFIT. DONORS FOR FAMILIES' HOMES, OR CHILDREN RECEIVING SCHOLARSHIPS... DONORS SEE THE SPECIFIC FAMILY'S HOME BEING BUILT THROUGH EMAIL UPDATES.
