we are here to help SHELTER PROGRAM Homelessness and poverty are not only morally wrong but also have negative impacts on society as a whole. When individuals are unable to meet their basic needs such as food shelter and healthcare they are more likely to experience physical and mental health problems including malnutrition chronic illnesses and depression. This leads to increased healthcare costs decreased productivity and lost potential contributions to society. Additionally homelessness and poverty often lead to crime and substance abuse which negatively affect public safety.
