Canary Garden, Inc.

Follow Message Edit

At Canary Garden children are supported in their grief journey by interactions with peers and trained volunteers. They learn they are not alone in their grief. Through talking circles, play, stories, art, music, and writing they have opportunities to express the many feelings associated with loss. They are allowed to share their memories with others. We believe the capacity to heal from loss is within each individual. Our task is to help facilitate the child's natural grief process by allowing each child as much time as he or she needs to express and experience the feelings that come with a death in the family. By experiencing grief in a safe, supportive environment, the child is free to move more confidently into the future
